Facebook Marketplace has a hidden gem most people overlook: bulk listing via spreadsheet. Instead of creating listings one by one, you can click "Create Multiple Listings" and upload a spreadsheet with all your items at once. Facebook even provides a template you can download.

The problem is that filling out the spreadsheet manually — category, title, description, price — for every item is nearly as tedious as the normal process. That's where Claude comes in.

Why Browser Automation Doesn't Work Here

You might be thinking: just use Claude's browser extension in Chrome to automate the listings directly. Unfortunately, Facebook blocks full automation — you have to manually approve every single action, which completely defeats the purpose. The spreadsheet approach is the workaround that actually works.

Step 1: Organize Your Photos with Claude Cowork

The one manual step: walk around your house and snap photos of everything you want to sell. Dump all the photos into a single folder in your home directory (Claude Cowork requires this).

Open Claude Cowork, point it at your folder, and prompt it to organize the photos into subfolders by item. Claude analyzes the images, identifies which photos belong to the same product, and creates clean, labeled subfolders. It even handles tricky cases — like a ukulele with a separate case — by recognizing they go together.

You could also use Claude Code, Claude Desktop, or other file-aware AI tools like Google Gemini CLI or Codex for this step.

Step 2: Auto-Generate the Listing Spreadsheet

With photos organized, the next prompt tells Claude to:

• Research the correct Facebook Marketplace category names (important — Claude makes up categories if you don't ask it to look them up)
• Research average resale prices for each item (falling back to new price minus a discount if used comps aren't available)
• Write a title and description for each listing
• Output everything as a spreadsheet matching Facebook's bulk upload template

Claude uses sub-agents to research prices for multiple items simultaneously, which speeds things up considerably when you have a lot to list.

Opus vs Sonnet: Which Model Should You Use?

I used Opus 4.6 for this workflow because it handles technical details well and I prefer its writing style. However, Opus burns through credits faster. If you're on the $20/month Claude plan, Sonnet is a more economical choice and will still produce solid results. Claude's credit system works in four-hour blocks that reset, so if this is your main task for the session, Opus is worth it.

Uploading and Going Live

Once Claude generates your spreadsheet, head back to Facebook Marketplace, click "Upload a Spreadsheet," and select the file. All your listings populate instantly. The only remaining manual step is attaching photos to each listing — but since Claude already organized them into labeled folders, this is quick drag-and-drop work.

I'd recommend doing a quick review before publishing. In my case, Claude priced a patio furniture set too low — I bumped it from the suggested price to $1,000. It also tends to include retail prices in descriptions, which you may want to remove. But overall, the listings were solid and saved hours of work.

• Use a Claude Code project to save category names so Claude doesn't have to research them every time
